EMDR THERAPY INTENSIVES

Healing, uninterrupted.

get back to the things that matter most

Intensives offer a focused, accelerated path to change.

What if you took the very best, most helpful parts of each weekly therapy session and devoted an entire afternoon or weekend to them? EMDR Intensives combine the proven efficacy of EMDR Therapy in a concentrated format of 3 or more hours per day over 1-3 days.

The extended session length allows for uninterrupted focus on your particular goals, without the interruption and time limits of the traditional weekly therapy model. Intensives provide an opportunity to feel better faster so that you can get back to life.

Here’s how it works

  1. Schedule a free intro phone call to see if an intensive is right for you.

We’ll discuss your goals, current or past experiences with therapy, and any questions you may have. I’ll make a recommendation about whether an intensive is likely to be appropriate for your particular goals.

  2. Complete your pre-intensive consult and assessments.

I’ll send you a variety of assessments and questionnaires to fine-tune your treatment plan. Then we’ll meet for a one-hour pre-intensive interview either in-person or online to further discuss your goals and make a plan for your intensive. If you decide to move forward, the cost of the consult will apply towards your chosen intensive package.

  3. Schedule your intensive.

We’ll work together to find a time that works for your schedule, budget, and therapy goals (see Program Options below for more details).

If you’ll be traveling, I can provide options for accommodations, dining, and things to do in the area; Jackson has a vibrant food scene, several museums, and nearby nature trails. Many clients choose to bring a friend or partner and enjoy making a weekend of it!

  4. Participate in your intensive.

Depending on your selected program, we’ll spend 3-6 hours per day focusing on your goals, with breaks for snacks and meals as needed. We’ll use the EMDR Therapy model to strengthen positive resources, reprocess past events or present obstacles, and/or prepare for an upcoming challenge.

Common questions about therapy intensives

  • Unfortunately, intensives are not a covered benefit by insurance at this time and superbills cannot be provided.

You may choose to use HSA/FSA funds to pay for your intensive; however, these funds may only be used if your intensive is  deemed a medically necessary treatment for a diagnosed mental health condition. Please discuss with me ahead of time if you’re thinking of using an HSA/FSA account.

  • Absolutely! Intensives can be a great adjunct therapy for those who are currently in therapy or have had therapy in the past. They can offer a targeted way to resolve specific issues that keep you from making progress with your current therapist. Intensives are also a great fit for those who have a solid therapeutic base but want to go deeper on a particular issue or challenge.

  • No way around it, therapy intensives require significant investment from both the client and the therapist. But, there’s a huge cost to not being well, too; it’s just harder to calculate. Stress, conflict, avoidance, burnout— these can all cost us time, money, and energy, not to mention joy, peace, and presence.

Additionally, clients often find that the time and money they save by not having weekly therapy sessions and copays/deductibles actually makes an intensive a more economical choice.

  • Programs are totally customizable and can be combined to allow for 1½ days up to 3 days of in-person treatment.
